The last shovelful of dirt has been tossed on the late but unlamented “SRT Viper” branding experiment. We already knew the Vipers were back in the Dodge fold, and not now applies to the IMSA GT-class cars as well. The cars are now part of the newly rechristened Dodge Viper Racing Team, and when they hit the track at Watkins Glen a little over a week from now, they’ll sport a retro livery with meaning.

The red-and-white paintwork is a nod to the car that took the overall victory at the 2000 Daytona 24:
A new title sponsor is in the works, too. It’ll be announced ahead of the Brickyard Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Late July.
