Production Land Rover Discovery Sport revealed in miniature
Undisguised versions of the upcoming Land Rover Discovery Sport have been spotted online – in miniature form.
The images of the new Land Rover, which is due to be officially revealed on 3 September, show what is reputed to be the finalised design.
It's clear that little has changed cosmetically from the prototypes that have been recently spotted undergoing trials, which took their design cues from the earlier Discovery Vision Concept.
Visible details include a panoramic sunroof, as seen in the previous interior shots, the green Land Rover badge and 'Discovery' badging on the nose.
The orange and black colour scheme of one of the models, coincidentally, also echoes that of the Vision Concept shown at the Beijing motor show.
Land Rover's new seven-seat SUV is set to rival the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan.

Benz Binge: Daimler Weighs Purchase of Aston Martin and MV Agusta
Soon, Daimler’s portfolio—which includes brands as diverse as Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Maybach, Freightliner, and Thomas Built Buses—could be expanded with two highly prestigious nameplates.
Daimler is weighing the purchase of British sports-car-maker Aston Martin and Italian sports-bike manufacturer MV Agusta. No decision has been made, but both projects are currently under consideration.
Aston Martin and Daimler entered a partnership last year that will provide the British brand with much-needed technology for its future products. The current Aston lineup uses the aging VH platform and somewhat outdated V-8 and V-12 engines. Daimler currently owns 5 percent of Aston Martin. Technologically, Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG will be intertwined with the next generation of vehicles. However, there is no current cooperation between design and other departments. If Daimler takes over, we expect a much closer alignment of the Mercedes-AMG and Aston Martin lineups. Cautionary voices within Daimler warn of the risks of a takeover, but others at the company consider Aston Martin a jewel that should be added to the portfolio. There is a 50-50 likelihood that things will move forward.

In the case of MV Agusta, there is consensus that a purchase by Daimler will occur. Compared with the price tag for taking over Aston Martin, obtaining a decisive share in the prestigious motorcycle brand will be a relatively minor investment. What’s more, it would alleviate the pain inflicted by rival Audi’s acquisition of Ducati; before becoming part of the Volkswagen Group, Ducati had partnered with AMG.

How Many HANS Would a Hamlin Huck if a Hamlin Could Huck HANS? [w/ Video]
Oh, constant variety of sport! The thrill of victory! The agony of defeat! While Joey Logano enjoyed the former at the conclusion of this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol, Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Kevin Harvick shared the latter. On lap 161, Harvick misjudged leader Hamlin’s corner exit speed, bumped the tail of the FedEx-liveried Toyota and sent Denny sliding into the wall at the bottom of the track. On his return bounce, Hamlin’s car clipped the side of Dale Jr.’s Chevy, ripping the bodywork open.
Frustrated, Hamlin hurled his HANS at Harvick’s under-caution car. Dang. It’s a long way from the famed Cale Yarborough/Donnie Allison brawl of Daytona ’79. It’s also against new safety rules firmed up by NASCAR VP of competition and racing development Robin Pemberton in the wake of the fatal Tony Stewart/Kevin Ward, Jr. incident.

Still, there’s something about hurling a HANS device onto the racetrack that just oozes petulant, impotent rage. Not even charmingly retrograde, it’s just kind of sad. Having said that, Denny did at least manage to hit Harvick’s car, so he’s got that goin’ for him. He’s definitely the one driver in the mess we’d take to the carnival midway as a ringer.
