Officially still a concept but a sure bet for production, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge—named after the treacherous and iconic corner at the Spa-Francorchamps race circuit in Belgium—may be hand-built, with quantities in the low hundreds and a likely six-figure price tag.
In an interview with Motor Trend , Infiniti’s fearless leader Johan de Nysschen more or less confirmed these details: “I would have to say in order to set expectations, we’re probably looking at a $100,000 car. We are probably also looking at 250 to 500 units a year. So that’s low volume. And we probably have, in terms of my current expectation, only a two-year life cycle. So you have to amortize the development across that volume, and with a hand-built car, you have very high unit costs. Candidly, I assume, the current state of the business plan indicates that we will probably subsidize each car in order to keep it within reach.”

At $100K, the Q50 Eau Rouge would be the most expensive Infiniti ever, and it would make the 425-hp, $63K BMW M3 look like a Blue Light Special. (Infiniti is working on a high-priced flagship coupe called the Q100, too.) That said, the Q50 Eau Rouge could also be the fastest and most entertaining Infiniti ever, should the production model carry forward the concept’s Nissan GT-R–derived 560-hp 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 and all-wheel-drive. And as far as stuff with R35 GT-R guts is concerned, it would be on the cheap side compared to the $650,000 Juke R.
