If we’re being frank, we’re a mite disappointed in the Brabus Widestar 6.1 convertible. Not because it’s not opulent. We’re sure it’s opulent. Hell, the European G500 upon which it’s based is opulent on its own—a handbuilt thing whose portals thownk shut in a way Benzes haven’t since the chassis codes were in the one-hundred teens and one-hundred twenties. No, we’re disappointed because Brabus is only delivering 454 lb-ft of torque with this model. Yes, it’s up 63 lb-ft from the base vehicle, and horsepower sees a 74-hp increase to 456, but your workaday Brabus generally exhibits enough twist to tow the city of Leipzig right to the doorstep of Paris. You get the feeling the boys from Bottrop would try that, too, if the government wasn’t worried about dredging up some dodgy history with the French.
What you do get with the Widestar 1.0 Convertible is the ability to drop the top, perfect for al fresco motoring on those mild days in Dubai or engaging in vehicular falconry on the Mongolian steppe.

If you ask nicely, perhaps Brabus might install one of their tech-fangled iBusiness systems, but we’d go another route and commission them rip out the rear seat and add a .50 caliber machine gun in its place. Expect a review of the luxe-technical specification in an upcoming issue of Popular Warlord magazine.
