Three different drivers have taken wins at the third round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton.
As the first race of the day got under way it was defending champion Andrew Jordan who sat on pole position, and although he was able to place his Honda Civic well in to the first corner he quickly came under attack from the Ford of Mat Jackson.
Jackson had already surged past Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal, but after putting Jordan under pressure for the opening laps he pulled back, eventually finishing fourth. Jordan held the lead to take his first win of the day ahead of Shedden and Neal, making it a 1-2-3 victory for Honda.
In race two it looked as if Jordan would take his second win of the day as he sped away from pole position. Quickly the Honda Civic Tourers of Shedden and Neal tried to pass, but it was several laps of close racing before Shedden was able to make his overtake stick.
The second race of the day was bought to an abrupt end following an incident between the Audi of Rob Austin and the BMW of Nick Foster, with the latter car sent over the barriers of the Thruxton circuit.
The race was quickly red-flagged, meaning Shedden took the win ahead of Jordan, just 0.319 seconds behind. Rob Collard rounded off the podium.
The Ford Focus of Fabrizio Giovanardi sat on pole position for the reversed grid of race three, with the BMW of Colin Turkington quickly slotting into second before taking the lead. Jason Plato was an early casualty, with his MG suffering suspension damage.
It was only minutes before Plato's team mate Ollie Jackson also suffered damage, causing the race to be placed under a safety car. Although the race quickly resumed, a second safety car was called for when the Toyota Avensis of Simon Belcher hit the barriers in the same place as Jackson.
As the second safety car period was lifted and the race resumed, it was Turkington running away with the lead with over half a second between himself and second place Giovanardi. The Italian came under attack from Jordan in the closing stages of the race, but was able to cling on to third position, with Turkington taking a clear win ahead of Mat Jackson.
The results of this weekend's racing mean that Jordan still leads the championship, seven points ahead of Shedden in second place and Turkington in third.
The next Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship event takes place at Oulton Park on 7-8 June.
