Nobody liked the googly-eyed Bentley EXP 9 F SUV concept. Perhaps a few contrarians convinced themselves that it was the right sort of imposing machine for the Flying B to foist upon its well-heeled customer base, but like, sometimes, ugly is just ugly, without much to redeem it. Supposedly, it played well in China and Russia. We might note that both nations have had some pretty ill-conceived notions of what a vehicle should look like.
Smartly, the crew in Crewe, now led by Murciélago designer Luc Donckerwolke, went back to the drawing board, and they’ve been teasing us with the resultant semi-Continental-nosed behemoth for the better part of a year. We’ve had carefully-posed sand-dune action shots. They’ve run the thing around with minimal cladding, as if parading it for spy photographers. They released a teaser video set in a Tron-like high-contrast world. And now they’ve continued the tease with this new clip.

Returning to Glamis, Tunisia, Tattooine, or wherever it was that Bentley shot the new ute smashing through that ephemeral mountain of sand, they’ve melded the desert landscape with the luxe leather hides of the new machine’s interior, adding the claim, “We don’t see terrain. We see texture.” It’s not the lumpen, lumpy proletariat you’ll be crushing under the wheels of your new roadgoing dreadnought, it’s merely texture!
