German football dominance leads to heavily discounted F1 race ticketsThe organisers of the 2014 German F1 Grand Prix at Hockenheim have been left red faced after initiating a special offer based on the number of goals scored by the German football team in the World Cup semi final between Brazil and Germany in Belo Horizonte last night.
The special offer on top category seats for the race, set to take place on 20 July, set a generous €11 reduction in price for every goal scored by the Germans.
After just 11 minutes of play in the heavily hyped semi final, prospective German F1 grand prix goers were awarded their first €11 reduction when Thomas Müller side-footed the ball into the Brazilian goal
Miroslav Klose then scored his record-breaking 16th World Cup goal after 23 minutes to bring up the German's second goal and increase the discount to €22. A further pair of goals by Germany’s Toni Kroos in the 25th and 27th minute of the game then upped the discount to €44.
With a further goal by Sami Khedira in the 30th minute, Hockenheim’s special offer had ratcheted up to €55 before the half-time whistle.
A further two goals by Chelsea’s André Schurrle in the second half took the overall discount to a handsome €77.
German F1 grand prix seats that originally cost €245 and €295 can now be purchased for €168 and €218 under the special offer, but only for the next 48 hours. So get them while they last.
