All you American Pajero boys, get ready. Mitsubishi is preparing a new Montero for us, and it will be revealed on February 12th at the 2015 Chicago auto show.
Globally, the Montero has carved out a reputation as an extremely reliable, rugged, and capable full-size SUV. Unfortunately for us, it never gained much traction here, and in 2006 Mitsubishi pulled the plug on U.S. sales. Since then, American Montero enthusiasts, including our own Aaron Robinson, have been left to fend for themselves amidst shrinking parts availability and little respect from their Toyota FJ80-driving buddies.

And while in recent years Mitsubishi hasn’t exactly been a paradigm of exciting new-product design, we’re hopeful that the new Montero is the real deal. That is, unless the Mitsubishi Concept CG-PHEV, previewed at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show, is any indicator of future Monteroness. If that’s the case, we may have lost her forever. Godspeed Montero/Pajero/whatever you’re truly called, godspeed.
