The 2016 Nissan Titan is headed to the Detroit auto show for an official unveil, and Nissan has dropped the first teaser for the truck. The quick clip is a flag-waving salute to just how American this Japanese truck is, but we’re more interested in the first peek at the pickup’s nether regions.

There’s that big 5.0-liter V-8 turbo-diesel Cummins engine, of course, as well as a shadowy look at the 2015 Titan’s frame. The truck will continue to use a beefy boxed frame for rigidity, but details are scarce beyond that.

The Titan is currently the oldest pickup on the road, not having received a significant refresh since the machine debuted 12 years ago. It feels it. Hopping behind the wheel is like taking a quick trip back to 2003. But an all-new design and fresh diesel power plant should make the Nissan one hell of a contender next year.
