BMW rejoined the DTM German Touring Car Championship in 2012 after an absence of two decades. While Audi took the manufacturer’s championship this year, BMW driver Marco Wittmann brought home the driver’s championship and the BMW RMG Team placed first in the team championship. To celebrate its success, BMW will sell just 23 special M4 DTM Champion Edition cars in Europe.
All 23 units—Wittmann’s car number was 23—will be finished in Alpine white with a matte-black hood and trunklid, while the twin-kidney grille gets orange accents. The treatment hews closely to the look of Wittmann’s M4 DTM race car. Replicas of Wittmann’s signature are applied to the door sills and the carbon-fiber trim on the dashboard.

European drivers who miss out on this special edition or can’t quite afford it have been extended another, more-affordable way to join BMW in celebrating Wittman’s victory: Effective immediately, the 1-series will be available as a DTM Sport Edition, which includes the M Sport package, sport seats, and HID headlights. The 1-series is the hatchback sister model of the 2-series for world markets, and the DTM package is even available on the 101-hp 114i.
