The newest installment in the Gran Turismo video game franchise is due this November, and based on the trailer below, it looks like it will kick the photorealism up several notches.
The game uses Polyphony Digital’s own rendering and game engine, which are said to realistically recreate lighting. Several different cars can be seen racing in the trailer, including a McLaren 650S, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Toyota FT-1 concept, Chevrolet Corvette, and Subaru WRX STI. The game will include real-world cars as well as original models available only in Gran Turismo Sport, including many of the Vision Gran Turismo cars designed for GT6. The game will also add new tracks like Tokyo Expressway and Northern Isle Speedway, as well as a new spectator mode to watch the top players battle online.
The gameplay looks like it will deliver more of what we’ve come to expect from the Gran Turismo series, but the photo mode appears to be greatly improved. We can see you’re still able to position cars against a variety of backdrops, but now the computer-generated photos look even more real than before thanks to better lighting and higher PlayStation 4 definition.
We’ll have to wait until November 15 to find out if the latest addition to the series tops them all, but for now enjoy the Gran Turismo Sport trailer below.
