Images of the Seat Leon Cross Sport Show Car have leaked to the web ahead of the car's official unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show.
These pictures, which were first published on a Czech automotive website, show the Leon Cross Sport's design remains true to the official design sketches published by Seat a few days ago.
Few official details have been released beyond a statement saying the concept car "matches the Seat brand perfectly with its performance, dynamic design and crossover attitude and the urban lifestyle of our young spirited customers."
However, reports suggest that power comes from the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which powers the Golf R, tuned to produce 286bhp and 280lb ft of torque. The concept is raised up by 41mm compared to the standard Leon SC, and offers four-wheel drive as standard.
Visually, the three-door car appears to blend cues from the firm's hot hatch Cupra range and mildly rugged, high riding X-Perience line. This ties in with an emerging trend in the car industry, with mild off-roaders and SUVs becoming halo products that attract customers. The addition of performance variants is intended to accentuate that trend, and with Seat's first SUV not set to launch until next year the Leon Cross Sport Show Car gives Seat an opportunity to explore customer reaction to the theme.
