Not content with the sort of buzz “Jaguar’s first-ever SUV” might garner, Jaguar went ahead and debuted the 2017 F-Pace at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show in such a way as to practically ensure fanfare and attention. It lined the F-Pace up, plopped British stunt driver Terry Grant in the driver’s seat, and set the two loose speeding toward a colossal, 62.6-foot-tall 360-degree loop. The suspense! The kitsch! For Queen and Country!
- -Not that we wish any harm to befall Terry Grant, but Jaguar probably could have sent its little stunt super viral had the F-Pace SUV failed to complete the full loop-the-loop. That didn’t happen, however, with both crossover and driver making the full rotation and returning to ground level unscathed. Cleverly, the loop formed the zero in a 63-foot-tall “80” signifying Jag’s 80th birthday, and, less cleverly, fireworks exploded from the digits’ circumferences upon the intrepid Grant’s successful looping.

Jaguar and Grant can hang their hats on the stunt’s securing of the Guinness world record for biggest automotive loop-the-loop, and it certainly makes for a more entertaining segue to production for the F-Pace than a press release. Watch the stunt below, and be sure to take note of Grant’s supreme discomfort as he’s subjected to 6.5 g on the loop.
