-The freshly de-blockified Honda Pilot, unveiled at the Chicago auto show and recently driven by your humble servants at Car and Driver, now has a price tag. Or price tags, given its quintet of trim levels and the sub-trims ensconced within. In fact, the Big H offers 17 variants of its new three-row ute, all the way from stripper front-drive LX models on up to the AWD Pilot Elite with nav and rear-seat entertainment.
The pricing spread begins at $30,875 for the most basic model and meanders through the levels on up to $47,300 if you’d like your Pilot all slathered in equipment.
-• LX, $30,875 (add $1800 for AWD to all trim levels); includes 280-hp direct-injected V-6, 18-inch wheels, six-speed automatic, LED brake lights, keyless entry and pushbutton start, air conditioning, cruise control, auto up/down front power windows, 60/40-split folding third-row seat, five-inch color radio screen, 200-watt audio system with seven speakers, aux input jack, one USB input in center console, Bluetooth streaming audio and phone connectivity, 12-volt outlets in center stack and center console.

Regardless of of bells and/or whistles, you’re looking at EPA city/highway/combined numbers of 19/27/22 mpg for FWD models and 18/26/21 for AWD utes equipped with the six-speed automatic. The top two trim levels, the Touring and Elite, feature a nine-speed automatic that squeezes 20/27/23 figures from the two-wheel drive Touring model. AWD Touring and the AWD-only Elite machines lose one mile per gallon across the board, weighing in at 19/26/22.

Now, if Honda would only deign to offer the Odyssey’s trick and wonderful HondaVac system as an option, you could pretty much take up residence in the thing. Though the exclamation, “I live in a Pilot down by the river!” might have folks thinking you’re some kind of unsavory Buffalo Bill character with a fixation on aviators. Ew.
