-The 650-hp Corvette Z06 is fast. Freaky fast. But Hennessey wants to outdo it with a regular ol’ Stingray.
The Texas tuner just demonstrated how fast a bone-stock C7 Z06 will do zero to 185 mph (and, subsequently, how quickly the gas gauge will drop on that top-speed run). We’re betting this “lesser” Stingray will do it even faster—provided it can get any traction at all.
-That’s because the Corvette you see in this video has been hopped up with Hennessey’s HPE1000 kit, the first to be applied to the new C7. The kit promises an even 1000 horses at the crank, thanks to an upgraded 2.9-liter supercharger, forged pistons and rods, a custom cam, ported cylinder heads, upgraded intercooler hardware, a full custom exhaust (with catalytic converters), and the requisite computer calibration.

In baseline dyno testing, Hennessey’s first HPE1000 Vette put out 847 horses and 720 lb-ft at the rear wheels. It also sounds utterly deranged. Go ahead, turn up the volume and drink in that screaming 6.2-liter V-8.
