Aston Martin has finally revealed the name of its big Lagonda saloon. The maker says that it will be called “Lagonda Taraf in the Middle East”.
It had been thought that the Taraf would be sold only in the Middle East, but this suggests that the car may now be offered in other markets.
The company says: “Taraf is an Arabic word that broadly translates as ‘success’.” The car was formally unveiled at an event in Dubai earlier this week.
Speaking at the launch of the new model, Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer said: “It is clear from the initial reaction to the car that interest from around the world is extremely high and I can confirm today that we are also evaluating the opportunity to offer this Lagonda in other markets."
The first official pictures of the Lagonda were revealed in September, and showed a near production-ready model undergoing final testing in Oman. Powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine - the same 5.9-litre unit from the Rapide S - the Lagonda is expected to be capable of reaching a top speed of 175mph.
