The FJ Company’s latest resto-mod project is a sharp but rugged-looking 1972 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser in bold custom Metallic Orange exterior paint. Although inspired by a childhood Tonka truck, this Land Cruiser is no child’s toy, but instead a fully restored classic FJ40 ready for off-road family adventures.
The Florida-based custom builder did not hold back with this full frame-off restoration as they added hand-picked classic features from different eras to create a one-of-a-kind look. The hot-rod-inspired paint job, custom Black soft-top, Mickey Thompson wheels, Cooper Discoverer A/T3 tires, and body-colored jerry can all help contribute to a head-turning build that most FJ enthusiasts should appreciate. Additionally, the LED headlights will help illuminate your nighttime off-road ventures while a nifty bottle opener on the custom front bumper can be great for those hot days.
Customization continues inside with features that keep the interior of the Land Cruiser protected and durable like a custom Black vinyl interior and Raptor bedliner coating the floor. Modern touches include a Fusion marine-grade audio system that can handle wet weather and heated Corbeau Sport Seats. If it’s too hot or cold outside, fear not as the Land Cruiser was fitted with an A/C system from Vintage Air.
This FJ40 is powered by a fuel-injected 4.0-liter inline-6 Toyota 3F-E engine, which originally made 155 hp, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The FJ Company added an Old Man Emu suspension and power steering so the Land Cruiser can tackle the daily commute with some level of comfort.
This particular FJ40 Land Cruiser, dubbed the “Grown-up Tonka Truck,” was designed and sold to a client who wanted a grown-up purist look, but the company can create just about any custom look you can dream up.
