AGYA CLUB INDONESIA : Goodwood Revival 2015 - report and picture gallery

Touring car stars and Le Mans winners star at Lord March's annual classic racing festival

British Touring Car star Gordon Shedden claimed one of the weekend’s biggest victories at the Goodwood Revival - although as always, the outfits and classic cars at Lord March’s themed event were almost as important as the racing itself.

Shedden teamed up with Chris Ward to take a Jaguar E-type to success in the RAC TT Celebration, the headline race on Sunday. Other victors included nine-times Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, who fought from the back of the grid to help Henry Mann win the St Mary’s Trophy in a formidable Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt.

The event played host to a series of parades, including Sir Jackie Stewart and Dario Franchitti using a display of BRM and Lotus racers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JYS’s joint lap record at Goodwood with Jim Clark. There were also fabulous line-ups of Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes - the first time all six original examples of the American racer have been together at the same time - and vintage Land Rovers as the firm celebrated the 67th anniversary of the original model. The event celebrated the achievements of Bruce McLaren, too, with a grid display of his race cars and his own prototype roadgoing model, the M6GT.

The action wasn’t confined to the circuit, either; 11 Spitfires and a Hurricane created a 12-plane flypast on Sunday to commemorate the Battle of Britain. Goodwood has confirmed that a sell-out crowd of 149,000 attended the three days of the event, making it the most popular Revival meeting to date.
