The luxury full-size pickup market seems to have no upper limit, so we are utterly unsurprised to hear that Ford is bringing the top-shelf Limited grade back to the F-150 range for 2016.
-Positioned above the Platinum and King Ranch models in the F-150 model hierarchy, the F-150 Limited features all kinds of stuff you won’t want to get dirty. There’s a “satin-chrome” finish on the grille, door handles, and tailgate trim, chrome-slathered 22-inch wheels, a chrome exhaust tip, and front-bumper caps and a rear bumper both painted to match the body. The truck also features quad LED headlamps, adaptive cruise control, an LED side-mirror spotlight, a 360-degree-view camera system, active parking assistance, and a remote tailgate release, all of which Ford claims are exclusive in the segment. Oh yeah, and it’s got a panoramic sunroof and big fat “LIMITED” lettering on the leading edge of the hood.
- -Inside, the F-150 Limited features real eucalyptus wood trim, “Mojave” leather seating surfaces, a unique instrument cluster face, the de rigeuer stitched dash top, and a VIN plate in the armrest laser-engraved with the production number (uh, why?). Other niceties include massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and Ford’s latest SYNC 3 system.
-“We still haven’t found a ceiling for light-duty luxury trucks,” Ford Trucks spokesman Mike Levine told us. “And this is as ‘luxury’ as any light-duty truck can get.”

Pricing will be announced this summer, but Levine said he expects it to cost somewhere around $60K. Will a Limited model of the upcoming Ford Super Duty pickups be offered, or do heavy-duty pickups have a lower luxury ceiling than their light-duty brethren? “We’re only talking about F-150 right now,” said Levine. We’ll take that as a definite maybe.
