The new Volkswagen Transporter Shuttle and Caravelle are both available to buy, with prices starting at £23,440 for the Transporter.
The Transporter, which was revealed at the Amsterdam motor show in April, can carry up to nine people. The Caravelle MPV, first seen at the Istanbul motor show in May, can carry six occupants and luggage in a greater degree of luxury.
Both cars come with a choice of 2.0-litre diesel engines, ranging in power from 83bhp to 201bhp.
The Transporter comes with Bluetooth and DAB+ digital radio as standard, while the Caravelle SE adds Bluemotion technology, a 5.0in touchscreen, a USB connection and a post-collision braking system. The Caravelle Executive model adds heated leather seats and larger, 17in alloy wheels. A Business Edition brings a high level of luxury for the rear cabin, with swivelling rear seats, a table, an integrated fridge, voice-activated Bluetooth and wi-fi. It costs from £57,305.
The options list includes automatic tailgate operation. This will make life easier for owners, given that the tailgate is nearly two metres high when open.
Volkswagen has made a range of safety equipment available on the Caravelle, too. Buyers can specify adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and a driver alert system.
A new California camper van will follow the Transporter and Caravelle later this year.
