The updated Mercedes-Benz A-Class will go on sale in the UK this autumn
Upgraded A-Class gets minor styling and detail changes in line with the rest of Mercedes' model family, and will go on sale this autumn
The facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been spotted testing for the first time ahead of its scheduled launch this autumn.
The relatively undisguised nature of this test mule shows how minor the facelift is, with most visual changes limited to the front and rear bumpers. Mercedes is likely to carry over styling elements from the facelifted B-Class, which made its debut at the Paris motor show late last year.
Key among those changes are revised light clusters and front air intakes, while the reprofiled rear bumper now incorporates both exhaust pipes.
Updates to the baby Merc's interior are expected to be more extensive. Previous prototypes have revealed changes to the steering wheel and instrument cluster, while updates to the A-Class's free-standing infotainment system and centre console are also planned. Expect the updated A-Class to come with the latest version of Mercedes' Comand infotainment software, too.
While there are unlikely to be many changes to the A-Class's engine line-up, expect minor improvements to fuel economy and emissions. The cleanest option in the range, the A180 CDI SE Eco, currently emits 92g/km of CO2 and is claimed to be capable of returning up to 78.5mpg.
