Well, this is a bit unexpected. A new study by Insurance.com reveals the Lexus ES 300 is the most ticketed car on the road.
According to the study, drivers of the Lexus ES 300 receive tickets at a much higher rate than other models. When surveying drivers between February 2014 and February 2016, Insurance.com recorded a whopping 33 percent of Lexus ES 300 drivers were slapped with a ticket. Tied for first place on the list is the Nissan 350Z, which makes much more sense as a ticket magnet than the conservatively styled ES 300.
With 32 percent of drivers receiving tickets, the Dodge Charger SE/ST receives the dubious honor as the second most ticketed car. Other cars with a ticket rate above 30 percent include the Volkswagen Jetta GL and Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS/LT. The Subaru WRX, which topped the last “ticket magnet” survey by Insurance.com, now sits in the middle of the list. In general, it seems that many discontinued models rack up tickets at quite a high rate.
The Lexus ES 300 ranking is particularly surprising, though, considering luxury cars tend to dominate Insurance.com’s “least ticketed” list. The Lexus IS 350 and Buick Encore ranked at the very top of this list, as only 3 percent of drivers reported tickets. The Acura ILX, Cadillac ATS, and Cadillac Escalade also made the cut.
