The facelifted Mercedes-Benz CLS is almost ready to go on sale, with some reports suggesting the model could make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month, before reaching showrooms in September.
Having confirmed earlier this year that facelifted versions of both the B-class and CLS would arrive this autumn, Mercedes is now putting the final touches to its four-door CLS coupé.
This model appears to be virtually undisguised, with new, more aggressive front and rear bumpers suggesting this model is also an AMG variant. Elements set to be included on the upgraded standard car include a revised front grille and headlights.
The interior of this prototype shows little change, although a new steering wheel with metallic accents can be seen alongside a slightly larger central infotainment screen. The model is expected to use the latest version of Mercedes' Comand infotainment software, and could well feature the same touch-pad controller seen on the recent C-class.
Engine options are set to carry over from the current CLS, meaning outputs ranging from 201bhp in the entry-level 250 CDI to 549bhp in the top-spec CLS63 AMG version. Some engines could also be offered with Mercedes' new nine-speed 9G Tronic transmission. The German manufacturer announced the new nine-speed automatic unit in July, with the first model to use it being the E350 BlueTec version of the E-class.
